Financial institutions have witnessed a continued expansion of the depth and breadth of regulation in the post credit crunch era. The computational challenges posed by this continued regulation expansion requires a rethink of the Risk Engine construct.

During this CQF Institute talk speakers will:

-Trace the evolution of streaming engines - FlumeJava, Google Dataflow, Apache Beam
-Discuss the patterns used for connecting such engines to external libraries
-Discuss some of the issues faced and potential solutions
-Emphasise the changes that may be required to adapt data structures and models to extract maximum efficiency from streaming engines
-Discuss various windowing patterns available and their effectiveness in processing risk in near real time and at scale

Speaker Profiles

Raj Subramani
Raj has over 20 years’ experience in Investment Banking.  Before joining HSBC, Raj work for the Interest Rates business at JP Morgan. He has held previous roles a Deutsche Bank and Citibank. Raj has a PhD in Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He holds the Certificate in Quantitative Finance from the CQF Institute.

Sanjeev Nutan
With over a decade of experience in Trading and Risk platforms, Sanjeev has previously worked at UBS, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. Sanjeev holds a MSc in Advanced Computer Science from the University of Manchester.

Robert Saxby
Robert is a Big Data Product Specialist at Goggle. His focus is on data engineering, big data and machine learning in the cloud. Aside from technology, Robert is an avid reader of the Beat Generation literature.

Fred Tsang
Fred has over 15 years’ experience in Investment Banking mainly focusing on risk engines and enjoys the challenges of grid computing and multithreaded processing. Before joining HSBC, Fred worked at Royal Bank of Scotland and Credit Suisse.

Reza Rokni
Reza is a Data and Analytics specialist at Google. He has the fun role of finding new domains and uses cases for the application of technologies being externalized by Google cloud. Outside of work, Reza is a terrible but enthusiastic skier, a sport he first learned in the mountains of Iran.
